Arriving at La Maliosa in January 2025, Katia, has a long experience in luxury hotellerie, in Tuscany and South Tyrol, as Sommelier and Cellar Manager. For her, the world of wine is both a passion and a job, and to her sommelier activity she has always flanked that of Official Taster and Speaker, which she currently carries out in the Grosseto Delegation of Assosommelier, one of the most important Italian Sommelier Associations.
“The world of wine has been part of my personal and professional life for over 20 years: I have learned to know it, study it, appreciate it and tell about it. I have always known La Maliosa and loved the wines it produces, so I am happy to be here, sharing the underlying values behind the winery.”
A meeting that took place thanks to a new educational commitment of Katia, enrollment in a University Course in Food and Wine Export Management. A course that she is completing and that has enabled her to acquire new skills, useful for the path undertaken at La Maliosa as Head of the Wine Export and Events department, which aims to give further development of the domestic and foreign markets.
“This territory – says Katiais my home, and I share La Maliosa’s approach in maintaining the wholesomeness of the soils, the recovery of historic vines, and the genuineness of the products made. All this involves respecting the land and preserving traditions, values that belong to me.”
At La Maliosa, Katia is able to express all her skills, combining those born from her passion for the world of wine with those for marketing and the development of new markets: an important combination also for the growth of the Company.
“In this place, and particularly in Monte Cavallo, our wines come to life. When you find yourself in such a special place, where silence and views act as a wonderful backdrop, the vineyards speak of the way wine is made at La Maliosa. Thus, the tasting becomes a story, an emotion: in that goblet is all of our territory!”
