The recipe is pretty much the same but instead of almonds, ours are studded with delicious hazelnuts from Cimini.<br \/>\nThey appear on the dessert menu of almost every Tuscan (and not only) restaurant and are usually served with a glass full of liquid &#8220;spirit&#8221; in which you dip before you taste to soften them a bit.<br \/>\nTasty, friable and genuine, they\u2019re like cherries, once you have one, you can\u2019t stop. We have prepared them with our Mild Extra Virgin Olive Oil Toscano IGP, which, thanks to its delicate flavour, can be used in the place of butter to prepare light, healthy and delicious cakes.<br \/>\nThese cantucci will keep for days and are perfect for a homemade gift just in time for the Christmas holidays.<br \/>\nBut beware, you may run the risk of someone asking you for the recipe ;-)!<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fattorialamaliosa.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Cantucci-Toscani-con-Olio-Evo.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-3945 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/fattorialamaliosa.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Cantucci-Toscani-con-Olio-Evo-491x750.jpg\" alt=\"Cantucci Toscani con Olio Evo\" width=\"491\" height=\"750\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuscan Cantucci with Extra Virgin Olive Oil<\/strong><br \/>\nMakes about 750g of cantucci<br \/>\n200g of peeled almonds<br \/>\n220g of sugar<br \/>\n420g of plain flour<br \/>\npeel of 1 organic orange<br \/>\n2 eggs<br \/>\n40g of <a href=\"https:\/\/fattorialamaliosa.it\/en\/prodotti\/olive-groves-and-extra-virgin-olive-oil\/\"><strong>La Maliosa Biodynamic Mild extra virgin olive oil<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\n2 tablespoons of Marsala<br \/>\n1 teaspoon of cream of tartar<br \/>\n1 teaspoon of baking soda<br \/>\n<strong>Method<\/strong><br \/>\nWash and grate the orange peel. Combine with the sugar and mix with a wooden spoon. Beat the eggs slightly and work them into the mixture with a wooden spoon until foamy.<br \/>\nPour in the oil and Marsala.<br \/>\nAdd the almonds. Sift in the flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Knead until the mixture is smooth. Form small loaves, each about 3cm wide.<br \/>\nArrange on a baking tray covered with baking paper.<br \/>\nBake in a preheated oven at 180\u00b0C for about 25 minutes.<br \/>\nRemove the pan from the oven and gently cut the loaves to get cantucci that are about 2cm thick. Bake again for about 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.<br \/>\nRemove from the oven and cool on a cake rack.<br \/>\nStore the cantucci in a tin container or zip lock bag<br \/>\nServe with a glass of our La Maliosa Bianco Maremma Toscana IGT.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fattorialamaliosa.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/ricetta-Cantucci-Toscani-con-Olio-Evo-.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-3947 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/fattorialamaliosa.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/ricetta-Cantucci-Toscani-con-Olio-Evo--547x750.jpg\" alt=\"ricetta Cantucci Toscani con Olio Evo\" width=\"547\" height=\"750\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The neighbouring locals in Lazio call them &#8220;tozzetti&#8221;.
