{"id":3497,"date":"2014-01-27T08:32:56","date_gmt":"2014-01-27T08:32:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fattorialamaliosa.it\/la-nostra-risposta-alla-provocazione-di-parker-2\/"},"modified":"2015-01-03T15:42:21","modified_gmt":"2015-01-03T14:42:21","slug":"our-answer-to-parkers-prediction-about-natural-wine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fattorialamaliosa.it\/en\/our-answer-to-parkers-prediction-about-natural-wine\/","title":{"rendered":"Our answer to Parker&#8217;s prediction about natural wine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When in the past days I read about Parker&#8217;s prediction, a very well known\u00a0personality in the international wine world, and the subsequent <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.intravino.com\/grande-notizia\/vini-naturali-una-truffa-tutti-gli-interventi-al-gastronauta-di-davide-paolini-e-le-pagelle\/\">post on &#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Intravino<\/span>&#8220;<\/a><\/strong>, I felt myself deeply \u00a0involved in this argument.<\/p>\n<p>Talking\u00a0about it with\u00a0<strong>Lorenzo<\/strong>, I confessed\u00a0my continuous\u00a0disappointment for the lack of respect towards a world\u00a0which, in most cases\u00a0is\u00a0made of commitment,\u00a0ideals and sacrifice. In the Background the Monte Cavallo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This is Lorenzo&#8217;s comment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn January 2nd Robert Parker, the world\u2019s most influential\u00a0wine reviewer, posted on Twitter\u00a0his 15 forecasts for the new year that just started.<\/p>\n<p>On point 3 he wrote: &#8221; The undefined scam called \u2018natural\u2019 or \u2018authentic\u2019 wines will be exposed as a fraud- ( most serious wines have no additives)&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0statement\u00a0that has generated a debate in Italy as well. We host Lorenzo Corino&#8217;s \u00a0intervention, a pioneer of sustainability in italian viticulture, who\u00a0manages and supervises the biodynamics \u00a0and the viticoltural project at the Maliosa farm owned by Antonella Manuli in Manciano (Grosseto).<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>In my opinion, the\u00a0statement\u00a0about natural wine\u00a0in\u00a0Parker&#8217;s prediction\u00a0doesn\u2019t deal in any way with\u00a0 the essence of the topic that I&#8217;ll try to develop here.<\/p>\n<p>Grape production\u00a0is made possible in Europe and around the world by\u00a0an important use\u00a0of agrochemicals\u00a0, water, mechanization, &#8220;expenditure&#8221; of the soils&#8217; vitality.<\/p>\n<p>All\u00a0that shouldn&#8217;t have to do with the\u00a0 production of\u00a0a natural wine. These\u00a0habits have also\u00a0caused negative consequences\u00a0on\u00a0the health of the vineyard workers, as some medical statistics confirm. For some time, and not only for the wine, an economic need emerged to produce\u00a0 in a better way and with more &#8220;natural&#8221; methods, in order to obtain safer and healthier\u00a0agricultural products. Health of the production locations, of their inhabitants, of those who work there, of customers\u00a0are \u00a0foundamental\u00a0requirements the modern vineyard doesn&#8217;t respect enough, forgetting the\u00a0huge sanitary cost.<\/p>\n<p>The commitment to produce a natural wine should get the maximum\u00a0agronomic\u00a0attention together with an intelligent and conscious use of the enviromental,\u00a0coltural, and soil heritage.\u00a0Through\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.soilpro.eu\/assets\/uploads\/433\/original\/Costantini_Bari2013_Summer20_09.pdf\">biological\u00a0soil\u00a0quality (BSQ) checking<\/a><\/strong>, it will be possible to choose the coltural technique\u00a0and the vine variety from which the best result can\u00a0be obtained in\u00a0complete harmony.\u00a0It is, so,\u00a0widely demonstrated that natural wine can be made only in suited\u00a0enviroments\u00a0for the \u00a0vine, with a minimum use of agrochemicals joined to natural\u00a0adjuvants\u00a0free of secondary unexpected effects.<\/p>\n<p>Considered\u00a0that the wine legislation in the world allows\u00a0a\u00a0series of numerous technological and chemical\u00a0applications, the production of natural wines should\u00a0\u00a0leave aside\u00a0all of these techniques. And, in case\u00a0it weren&#8217;t\u00a0completely possible (eg. solforous),\u00a0this must be declared.\u00a0We should strongly\u00a0priviledge\u00a0the territorial origin, the vines, the commitment to\u00a0well consider the risks\u00a0lavished\u00a0for the wine uniqueness and goodness.<\/p>\n<p>Natural wines are a necessary answer to\u00a0important anomalies in the wine production.
